Tennis with the stars
busy weekend?
Kinda.
Cindy’s last weekend in Melbourne (and Australia), so we went drinking down in St. Kilda, at a very trendy bar which had a live jazz band. I was able to slump into a comfy chair in the corner, drink lots of coke and enjoy some pleasant company.
And then I got tired, and when I get tired I get irritable, so sorry Sally, Cindy, George!
But, then again, I really don’t look good in hats… (evidence is offered in the skiing photos)
but, on sunday
We managed to get some court time at Melbourne Park. Now, this might not sound impressive, but Melbourne Park is the Australian equivalent of Wimbledon (i.e. where the Australian Open is held). And we got on showcourt number three. So we played tennis where people like Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi and (most importantly) Anna Kournikova had previously knocked a ball about.
Very nice. Shame about my tennis skills, though.
Then, in the evening we hit the Kings restaurant in the Casino for an all-you-can-eat chowdown. I did quite well (for me), but the highlight of the meal was when our American friend, Dierdre, hit the dessert stand with a plate that was meant to hold your main course. And filled it. Gotta love those Americans…
The roast potatoes were pretty good too!
and a movie review too
After the meal we hit the cinema to see Road Trip, which was a surprisingly funny hour or so. (Reviews).
Well, when a film has a tagline of ‘Love is never having to say you’re sorry you made a sex tape with a woman then mailed it to your girlfriend.’, you know it has to be good.
and, quicker every year
The football season has started again, and after two games, we (Sheffield United, the mighty Blades, the Red and White Wizaaaards) are still above Wednesday.
This makes me, after an otherwise down couple of days, smile…
