Monday was my day for
Monday was my day for visiting the CN Tower where, five years ago, I used to work in the bar. Thankfully, the 20cm of snow that was forecast did actually dump itself overnight so you couldn’t see much anywhere. Well, you could, but everything was white. We decide to try again another day.
The alternate plan was to do some shopping in the Eaton Centre on Yonge Street, and we rushed up there to get out of the blizzards. But I wasn’t really in a shopping mood, so we wandered around and ate some more food. Our plan for the evening was to go to the comedy club Yuk Yuks for their amateur night after popping home and picking up various people. Thankfully, the storm was so bad that we had to stay in the city, and managed to kill three hours in hopping from warm store to warm store along Yonge Street, and stumbling across a great little Asian restaurant where we ate dinner.
When we got to the club, we found out that it was a ‘special’ night – not only did this mean a doubling of the ticket price (of course), but it meant that we got to watch the final of Canada’s comic of the year competition, and the compere was Adam West, the original batman from the television series! It was a hysterically funny evening, but I won’t repeat the jokes here, I guess you just had to be there. Some highlights were the ‘fill-in’ guy, Tim Nutt, and the winner of the last competition, Jason Rouse (bios from Yuk Yuks), and the bonus was that the show was being taped for Canadian television too – I love it when things work out like that…
We laughed, literally, all the way home.
