OK – I guess I promised…

Well, it has now been 12 days since my birthday and boy has it gone quickly. The evening itself was spent with Vicky, Vicky and Ally, three of the girls I met whilst I was travelling around Australia (they are all on the penultimate picture of the first night’s camp page of alw). A really nice evening, catching up with friends I had not seen for almost two years, eating nice food and planning more reunions was topped only by Vicky’s industriousness with the waitress, getting me profiteroles with birthday candles and a song. Very embarassing…

Then, at the weekend, I took a small trip upto Oxford to surprise Moselle and Duncan who have recently arrived back in the country (regular readers will remember my visit to Vancouver just before christmas of last year). The surprise, arranged by Rob, went perfectly – and he got me too, by inviting Paul, for a Girdlestone Road reunion. More eating, chatting and disco music made a weekend otherwise cannibalised by overtime one to remember.

Then, Monday, I met Matt and Katie for dinner and a couple of drinks to celebrate my quarter-century – unfortunately, for Matt, we ended up eating and drinking in the Houses of Parliament (something I guess he is getting bored with by now…!), but managed to get onto the roof, to be ‘up close and personal’ with Big Ben. Very impressive.
