another famous movie review

Now, I know that this doesn’t really pertain to the movie itself (the movie being Shrek which we went to see this afternoon), but I really cannot recommend going to see any movie with a “u” rating on a saturday afternoon, because whatever cinema you are in will be full of whiny, crying, talking kids. Cute as they are, today I have been put of parenthood for a long time.

Anyway, the movie itself was … okay … in that it made me smile a couple of times, and even do that involuntary shoulder-shrugging half-laugh motion once or twice. Yeah, it spoofs a lot of movies (but which film doesn’t have a fake-Matrix-style fight scene these days), and there is a lot of humour that passes over the heads of the children who are there to see it. But I guess the problem was that the humour just didn’t reach me. I don’t know, maybe I am just being a bit harsh, but it just wasn’t brilliant – certainly not an 8.3/10 as the reviews on the imdb suggest…
