When Hard Drives Attack

Yup, my laptop has finally decided to give up the ghost, and most inconvenient it is too. The hard drive spins, taunting me with the data that is locked away in there, and it laughs, nay guffaws, at my attempts to use disk recovery tools.

I know my stuff is there … I just don’t know how to get at it.

Luckily, I just got the extended warranty in time.

Unluckily, I haven’t really backed up for a while.

More fool me, eh?

I have a disk checker working away, and it seems to be attempting something, but it is slowly counting up from 692,000 up to 1,362,713. That’s a long way, and I want to go home…!
