So, finally, after 8 years I popped the question on Sunday. The morning went perfectly, a beautifully frosty morning and a recipient who suspected nothing.

The (almost) in-laws accompanied our early morning walk to ’take photos’ and after setting up the camera, tripod and shot I got down on one knee and asked George to marry me.

She said yes.

We celebrated with champagne on the edge, followed by some drinks with the combined parents and then we went off for a night in a lovely hotel in Derbyshire, The Peacock at Rowsley. We even slept in the same bed previously slept in by Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman.

But, obviously, that’s not important!

So, a picture perfect moment, captured, and eight years to the day after getting together, I couldn’t be happier…
