As I had to head back to Waikiki today, I thought I would get up early and have a couple of hours on the beach. So I end up walking for 90 minutes to get some nice pictures. They had better be worth it.

I then had the afternoon in Waikiki and decide to head off to the Arizona Memorial, which spans the sunken USS Arizona in Pearl Harbour – the whole setup was very moving (old news footage and commentary on how everything happened) and interesting in a macabre kind of way.

Discovered that the General Belgrano, which the British sank in the Falklands War, was actually an old US warship that had previously been sunk by the Japanese at Pearl Harbour. Not a very lucky ship, eh?

Trying to get the bus back, discover that it is exact change only. I don’t have exact change. Friendly man gives me a dollar. Thank-you, friendly man.

There were some big crowds in downtown Honolulu, so I jump off the bus early to find out that it is the ceremony for turning on their christmas lights. Without Bucks Fizz, it doesn’t seem worth it, so I start to walk to the shopping center where I would get my bus back to Waikiki.

And walk, and walk and walk.

I have seen downtown Honolulu and I didn’t like it.

It was dark by the time my bus got back to Waikiki, and not knowing where in the world I was, I jumped off the bus at a very random stop. But thanks to my Jimmy-powers, I made it back in one piece.
