New stereo

the email saga?

Is over. I now have proper email access again, and can reply to your messages – there seems to be a bit of a backlog, so bear with me until I get around to everybody…

Unfortunately my server seems to have been switched, and now none of my scripts work, so the submission forms for messages and thejimmyology, will be out of action until I can work out how to fix ‘em.

ok, back to the weekend…

Friday afternoon (before the footie) was spent in a harrowed search for a rental car for the next day (and this was a long weekend remember) so that we could visit the Grampians. But, after increasing amounts of tension and tiredness after the night before, we were successful. So, to treat myself, I bought a new stereo system!

This replaced the portable CD-player/crappy speaker combination that I had been using for the last eight months, and now I can have booming, bassy music to annoy my neighbours.

Walking down the street with my new box, George remarked that it was probably as light as a feather (I was probably boasting about how strong I was, carrying it in one hand), and so I passed it to her. She promptly dropped/threw/propelled my new toy into the middle of a busy street in the centre of Melbourne, in the middle of people, trams, cars and messenger bicyclists. She said it was an accident, but you never can tell… (the machine was fine though, excellently packaged).

This was the beginning of a series of a few very expensive days.

Saturday was an early start – 8:00am in town to pick up the car along with Jen and Michelle – so that we could spend as much time in the Grampians as possible. Thankfully, the day was dreary, and the further that we drove from Melbourne the worse the weather got. Things weren’t looking good at all.

Two and a half hours later, we pulled into Ararat, a small town at the base of the Grampians to stretch legs, empty bladders and buy camera film. As usual, I couldn’t pass a CD shop without going in, and found myself looking at some very cheap second-hand CDs. Thinking that there had been something missing, lyrically, from our trip I ended up purchasing a Spice Girls album (after George had prodded me into doing so). So there I am, ready to buy a Spice Girls CD, looking temptingly at a Kylie album, wearing myGayJumper. Sometimes I wonder why I get the reputation that I do…?

Then we made it to the scenery itself – a quick whizz around some lookouts, a couple of waterfalls, loads of photos and a bit of bushwalking later, we were all knackered. After a late lunch in Halls Gap, we started the long journey back to Melbourne, accompanied (very loudly) by Sporty, Posh, Ginger, Baby and Scary. Happy days indeed.

And there will be photos very soon, oh yes.
